Arrival at Colombo International Airport. A member of our staff will meet and greet you before escorting you to your desired hotel. From the Airport, directly proceed to the sacred city of Anuradhapura. You can visit Ruwanwelisaya and Sri Maha Bodhi in the evening and participate the evening ceremony. Stay the night at Anuradhapura.

At the heart of Anuradhapura is the Sri Maha Bodhi, a sacred fig tree that is believed to be grown from a cutting of the original Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. This ancient tree, over 2,000 years old, is the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world and is venerated by Buddhists from around the globe. Surrounding the sacred tree are numerous stupas (dagobas), such as the Ruwanwelisaya, Jetavanarama, and Abhayagiri Stupa, which are colossal dome-shaped structures that enshrine sacred relics and are adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures.

Mihintale is set on a picturesque hill and is renowned for its serene environment, ancient stupas, and intricate stone carvings. The site comprises several notable structures, including the Mihintale stupa, the Aradhana Gala (the rock from which Mahinda is believed to have preached), the Kantaka Cetiya, and the ancient hospital complex, which is considered one of the oldest in the world. Evening proceeds to Habarana / Dambulla.

Dambulla is a historic town in central Sri Lanka, renowned for its well-preserved cave temples, known as the Dambulla Cave Temple or the Golden Temple of Dambulla. This UNESCO World Heritage Site dates back to the 1st century BCE and consists of five main caves adorned with intricate murals and statues of Buddha, making it one of the most important Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka. Dambulla is also a gateway to the nearby Sigiriya Rock Fortress, another UNESCO-listed landmark, and is a key part of the island's Cultural Triangle. Evening proceeds to Polonnaruwa.

Ascending to Polonnaruwa at 9 a.m. Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a mesmerizing cultural city in Sri Lanka that stands as a testament to the island's rich history and ancient civilization. The city is home to numerous religious monuments, including the famous Gal Vihara, a rock temple featuring four stunning Buddha statues carved out of a single granite rock, each showcasing different postures—standing, reclining, and sitting—representing various aspects of Buddhist philosophy. The ancient city is also dotted with stupas, such as Rankoth Vehera and Kiri Vehera, which are large domed structures that once served as places of worship and are still venerated by pilgrims today.

The Katina ceremony is a significant and revered event in Theravada Buddhism, celebrated primarily in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. This ceremony marks the end of the three-month Vassa period, also known as the Buddhist Lent or the Rainy Retreat, during which monks reside in their monasteries, engaging in meditation, study, and reflection.  After the Katina ceremonial activities, proceed to Ella. Stay night at Ella.
